Spec's and Stories:
Here is my a 1969 427/390 Daytona Yellow Roadster, 400 Turbo Hydromatic transmission, with sidepipes. I am the 4th owner of this numbers matching Survivor. We purchased this ride on July 4th 1997.....a great way to celebrate Independence Day!!
I've always wanted to own a Vette, but knew I would have to be well off to do so. Well, I'm not exactly well off, but here's the story.
Christa and I just moved to Southern California in March of this year. This was a huge decision for us, as we are both from North Carolina, and all of our friends and family would be left behind. We made the move, and unfortunately my wife had to give up her job. She decided to make a career change and conveniently landed a job where one of the percs was a company car. Cool huh?
So now we would have three cars in the driveway. But after living here for a few months, I started noticing how many nice vintage cars are driving around Southern California. I mean nice rides....everything from Hotrods to classic Vettes. My "Vette Fever" was easily re-ignited! We also discovered numerous vintage car dealers. Nice, but expensive.
So one day in late June, we were discussing the possibility of kids, and I realized that I may have to wait until I was retired to own a Vette. But WAIT...the gears started clicking...we now have a company car...I can sell my 88 Honda....drive my wife's 94 Accord to work...maybe a Vette (pre-mid life crisis) is possible!! My wife (a wonderful woman ain't she) agreed to give it a look.....
Now all we needed was an affordable Vette. After buying a "Sports-Car Trader", I saw two identical 69's listed. Test drove them both on the same day. The Daytona Yellow was definitely the best buy so "Viola"...we are now proud owners of our first (but not last) Vette.
AND NOW.....my wife has the fever!! She loves the 58 but wants POWER.....(see why we're married? A Big Block lover after my own heart). Her desire is a 66 BB Marina Blue Roadster with White interior and Ragtop...HONEY!! What was that about kids?!?? :)......to be continued....
