My love affair with the Corvette began in 1987 when I was 16yrs old... Simply out shopping one day with my best friend's father at the local Chevrolet dealer... I saw this red 1987 Corvette on the showroom floor... I really loved the shape of the car... Well, all it took was for me to sit behind the wheel once... I simply didn't want ot get out... We left the dealership that day in a new 1987 IROC-Z, but the dreams of a Corvette never left my mind...

I've owned a couple of sports cars over the years, even though they were very nice cars, a 1988 IROC-Z, 1997 Pontiac Trans Am, they still weren't a Corvette... Well, one day last year I got the itch again... I called my insurance agent to get ready for another disappointment... Previous to buying the Trans Am, I checked with the insurance agent, at 26yrs old, I was told my insurance would be approx. $4K/yr... So I was expecting another let down... I had my agent check twice for me when he gave me an updated quote of $1430/yr for full coverage on a 1996 Corvette at 27yrs of age... Needless to say, I told him I'd see him very soon...

Shopping for a Corvette was fun... The C5s are in such high demand that the prices on C4s dropped a good 20% from the last time I checked... I originally wanted a 96 LT4 CE convertible, but after a problem with GM concerning my 6spd Trans Am, I went with an automatic LT1 combo... I looked high and low for a 96 convertible but the only one to be had for 2 months was a yellow one with a black top... So I chose a coupe instead...
