Here's our pride and joy...1997 Torch Red C5 with light gray interior. It was actually my husband's idea to look into buying a Corvette after the reviews for the new C5 came out and there were nothing but good things being said about it. We have never owned a Corvette before. I had reservations at first about buying a "sports car," but after visiting our local dealership and touring the showroom, I was hooked! I guess you could call it love at first sight. There was never a doubt in MY mind that only red would do. Since we soon discovered it was next to impossible to find new Vettes, we decided on a used one and bought it from a private owner in July of '98. After passing down the old Explorer to my son to drive, my husband decided that maybe it would be a good idea to drive my Toyota Camry to work most days since the commute in Houston traffic could be hard on our new "baby." So I ended up with the Corvette on weekdays - oh darn! I soon fell in love and now he practically has to wrestle the keys from me if he wants to drive it. As a matter of fact, I've joined an all-women racing team called GirlSpeed Racing. We do a little drag racing at Houston Raceway Park and are planning a trip on November 15 to Ennis, Tx to compete in the ID Drag Wars. What a thrill! This car is addictive, that's for sure.
