1998 C5 convertible with Corsa Performance exhaust.
This is the first Corvette I've ever owned, and it's everything everyone
said it would be. This is probably the only purchase I've ever made
that completely lived up to its reputation and met expectations. My
wife of thirty years and I have no pet names for this car, but as you
can see from its "friendly" license plate, we get plenty of neat
comments. One, for instance, heard last week while waiting at a traffic
light, from a young man in car behind us yelled out his window..."Not as
good as you are with that car..." Ain't it the truth.
Funny thing about the convertible. Living in New York going through the
seasonal changes now, going into Winter, between my wife and me, I'm the
one that asks to pull the top up first to get warm. I had expected my
wife to wimp out first, but the NEVER happens. The bride just bundles
up and loves the wind. I swear that in her last life she must have been
that dog you see that is always trying to stick its head out the car
window!
Learning a lot about people with this new car, including how friendly
strangers can be, and my wife's love for fresh air!
Why 3 photos instead of one or two:
When in the service, drill instructor always used to tell us that shoes
needed to be polished in the front and the back so that you'd be seen
coming and going. Here are three pictures, one taken at the nose, one from the rear, and one with the top up
from the side. The first two are for the "coming and going." It's a
convertible, which is way cool, but everyone who sees it with the top
down (usually the only way anyone sees it outside my garage) will ask
"What color's the top?" Chevy calls it "light oak." Three pictures
tell the story.
Try to wave,
